One Night with the Playboy (Whiskey River #5) by Katherine Garbera

26209121This is the fifth and final book in the Whiskey River series and it follows the last brother. We've read about Trey, Wyatt and Xander all finding love in Whiskey River, well now it's Nick's turn.

It's been a year since Nicholas "Nick" Blue has seen Reba Duvall and he's about to get a big surprise.

Now Reba and Nick must decide if they have what it takes to be a real couple and whether or not Nick will be able to overcome his fears.

The story was okay, but I honestly didn't think Nick really worked for Reba. From the very beginning, he hasn't seen her in a year and his first though is "hey, we should jump into bed". Worse he goes on about how he really cares for her, but you don't really get that impression from him.

Reba was too blah. The moment she see's Nick, she forgets he's a bit of jerk and just fawns over his stay/run attitude.

Kiss Me, Cowboy by Melissa McClone

23203522This is the third book in the series, like the first and second book, it takes place in the town of Marietta in the time before, during and after the 76th annual Copper Mountain Rodeo. This book follows Charlie "Charlotte" and Zack as they work to sort their lives and find happiness, either together or on their own.

I'm just throwing this out there but during the entire book you just want to smack Zack upside the head for being such a jerk.

Charlie likes Zack, Zack likes Charlie; seems easy enough. Except Zack doesn't want to date someone he works with because of something that happened in the past. Charlie has decided that it's time to get over Zack and as she contemplates a job in another state. Zack knows he doesn't want Charlie to go, he doesn't want to lose her, so he offers to help find her a boyfriend [this is where you want to smack him upside the head], except, Zack doesn't like the idea of Charlie being with someone else.

The entire book is Zack accepting his feelings for Charlie and acting on them and then pulling away and then realizing he's wrong. Still a very good story and I loved that gives you a look at what is going on with the other characters in town that are only briefly mentioned in the first and second books in the series.

Montana Born Rodeo Series
Book #1 Tease Me, Cowboy
Book #2 Cherish Me, Cowboy
Book #3 Kiss Me, Cowboy

Cherish Me, Cowboy by Alissa Callen

23111275This is the second book in the series, like the first book, it takes place in the town of Marietta in the time before, during and after the 76th annual Copper Mountain Rodeo. This book follows Payton and Cordell as they work to sort their lives and find happiness.

Payton is struggling to maintain her farm after a severe drought, her only help comes from her widowed, old neighbor and father like figure, Henry.

Cordell is on a mission to find someone [this is the juicy part], so he comes to town with a goal that does not include falling for a tough as nails cowgirl and finding a place to call home.

The story is great, it's sweet, it's dramatic and the characters are very likable.
The combination of various authors, really makes this series shine. Every author brings their own great and unique style to the series. It's so hard not to include spoilers as I right this review, so that's your hint to how good this book actually is.

Tease Me, Cowboy Rachael Johns

This story is part of the Montana Born Series and takes us back to the town of Marietta.

Selah and Levi were high school sweethearts, after graduation Selah goes off to college and a successful career in Seattle; Levi goes off to to take care of his dying mom and a successful career in the Rodeo.

These two haven't seen each other in 10 years, but when Selah has to come back to Marietta for an article she's writing and Levi is back to compete in his final Rodeo, these two get a second-chance at romance.

The story is really short and it catches us up with a lot of our favorite Marietta residents, so definitely worth checking out.

Cowboy On Her Doorstep by Pam Mantovani

Ugh, I always hate stories like this; that being said, I still read these types of stories and for the most part very much enjoy them.

22920049Logan and Kendall were very good friends, Kendall was in love with Logan, but typical guy in these types of stories, Logan has no idea. Kendall and Logan have one night together before Logan leaves town and eventually joins the army. Kendall ends up pregnant, but despite everything, she makes a great life for herself and her daughter Marissa.

When Logan comes back to town after being away for many years, he learns that he has a daughter. Logan now wants to be a part of his daughter's life and to show Kendall that they can have a great life together.

Kendall can't bring herself to trust Logan, she doesn't know if he really will stick around and she doesn't want her daughter to form an attachment that might be temporary.

I hate these stories because in the years the guy is away, he never really gives the girl any thought, but the moment he returns and see's her again it's like "you've always been the one, I love you". Still, the story was good, we have a strong female character that doesn't need the man in her life for everything to be okay; and the male character isn't an ass, from the moment he comes back, he sets out to right his wrongs and show that he can be relied on. The story isn't that long and it's good, I finished it one day and I must say I would love if the author gave us a sequel, maybe for Logan's brother and Kendall's friend.

Learning To Love (Carson Hill Ranch, #1) by Amelia Rose

This one is real short and quick, I got it free on iTunes and it was so funny.

Bernard is in his 70's and he wants to see his sons married and with children; he married late and his wife died about 10 years ago [in the story timeline], but since his sons have no inclination to marry he decides to meddle. How does a 70 year old meddle, he creates an online profile on a dating site for his sons [don't allow your parents near a computer] so he can move things along.

Miranda is a bad relationship and her little sister Gracie decides to intervene by creating her an online profile, eventually she finds out and she continues the conversations with Casey [Bernard actually pretending to be him]; when things get really bad in her relationship, she flees with her little sister Gracie and since they had nowhere to go, so she decides to accept Casey's [Bernard] invitation to come to the ranch.

Casey is very irritated with his father's idea, especially when he is sent to pick up a city girl who he believe will be very high maintenance and annoying. Miranda and Casey butt heads immediately but after suffering an accident caused by Jack one of the two bad guys in the book and Miranda nurses him, Casey tries to stop being such a jerk. Well, after they can both store their attitudes, they eventually have sparks fly left and right.

Miranda's ex Mike comes along with thoughts of revenge for Miranda's leaving him and well, they deal with him the old west style.

The only reason this story lost points with me is that they skip a lot of details, like how where the bad guys fully dealt with, maybe a date or two for Miranda and Casey, just saying.
