Unstoppable: Harnessing Science to Change the World by Bill Nye

To me personally, Bill Nye can write no wrong. His writings are about imagining the possibilities, about dreaming up the next big leap in science.

I have read critiques where people argue that Mr. Nye is not a real scientist or that his writings are fictions and make-believe. While this book for example, tackles primarily hypothetical concepts and theories of scientific endeavors; Mr. Nye does use examples of some of the mini-scale concepts he has put to use in his own house. What is awesome about that is that it sets off down the path of thought.

Scientific achievements started of as theories and dreams; as lunacies and hacks; taken by the next generations to push the envelope and make the next big thing.

It is because of the passion and dreams that Mr. Nye puts to print in this book that I say it is a recommended read.

Now That It's You by Tawna Fenske

Main Girl: Meg Delaney
Main Guy: Kyle Midland
Douchey Ex: Matt Midland

I could not get over the fact Meg was such a pushover. She takes all this crap from her cheating ex-fiancĂ©’s mother and for some unknown reason she feels bad because he died.

I was able to overlook Meg getting together with Matt’s brother Kyle, but when she even gave money from her hard work to go to his new fiancĂ©, I was like NO!

The only thing I liked about this book was the way Matt died. That Viagra was his killer was hilarious.

Black Panther #1-7 by Ta-Nehisi Coates

Reviews Issues #1-7

In issues one through seven and we see things get seriously, seriously awesome, tense, and so politically complicated.

I've often said it's very challenging to properly write a character like T’Challa. As both a hero to the world and ruler of a country, it’s hard to write a character that as a leader can put his country above all, while simultaneously championing for the world.

In this story arc, T’Challa is now in Wakanda and he is facing a lot of social upheaval. The country that was once impenetrable and conflict proof is facing some homegrown problems that with some outside help are attempting to overthrow the peace that Wakanda strives to continue to enjoy.

Combining a great story and coupling it  with incredible art make Black Panther a must read.

Totally, Sweetly Irrevocably (Sweet Love #2) by Kira Archer

Main Girl: Gina Silvano
Main Guy: Rick Boyd

This was such a funny opposites attract story. You have a super free spirit and the most super anal straight and narrow cop ever.

Gina’s antics are hilarious and Rick really does grow on you once he stops being so Mr. Straight and Narrow and does the crazier “I love you” gesture.

These two were perfect together.

Poor little Rabbit is bummed out with the rain and all the drips and nuances that it is bringing. But as he whines and moan and begrudges the weather, his roommate Bear just goes about making the best of the day.

Bear, the pinnacle of patience tells Rabbit “there, there” as he attempts to console his plights. But having enough of this gloom, Bear sets out to show Rabbit that even a gloomy day is no excuse to be glum-bunny.

Sweet and fun this rainy day story will delight the little ones.

The Family Man by Kelly Eadon

Main Girl: Beth Beverly
Main Guy: Griffin Hall
HDaughter: May

Could Griffin Hall be any more perfect?

Griffin gave up his music career to be a father; and even through all the ups and downs and craziness, the one person that commands all of his attention and dedication is his lovely daughter May.

Enter Beth Beverly, she likes Griffin, Griffin likes Beth.

As Beth and Griffin navigate a relationship, Beth comes to find what she really wants to do in life and Griffin learns that with the help of friends and family, he can be a great father, a musician and a good boyfriend.

The story was sweet, the characters were likable and they faced realistic problems of what it means to date a single parent.

Putting Out Old Flames (Pineville #1) by Allyson Charles

Main Girl: Jane Willoughby
Main Guy: Chance McGovern

This was a good story, my only problem with it was the way our leading lady, Jane Willoughby was portrayed.

Jane and Chance McGovern were high school sweetheart, before Chance very callously broke her heart.

The story begins 10 years later and in those 10 years Chance has been fire chief, had a son, been married and in the process of divorce, while Jane is portrayed as having spent those 10 years so hung up on Chance that she has not had a real, solid relationship since.

Now Jane and Chance see each other again and Jane is all “OMG I never stopped loving him and now he’s back in town”, while Chance is all “I know I messed up, I was a young stupid kid, but she’s always been the one”.

I liked that they both got a second chance, but I would have loved to see that in those 10 years Jane had an actual life.

C21st Gods #1 by David Tallerman, Anthony Summey

This was a murder cult / mystery that as a starter issue is interning enough to get the reader wanting to come back for more.

The art follows a somewhat gritty style that I have often come associate with murder mysteries.

One Size Fits All by Stephanie Haefner

Main Girl: Penny
Main Guy: Theodore “Thor”

I liked how Penny was moving on her from cheating, douchebag ex-husband. I loved how she tells him to take a hike when he finds out his skank was also cheating on him, he’s not the baby daddy and realizes he messed up and wants Penny back.

I loved what a great guy Thor was. As far as hero material goes he hits all the right boxes.

My issues with this book stemmed more from Penny’s so called friends and employers. Yes, they redeem themselves at the end, but honestly I would not continue to be friends with them.

Bad friends aside, the romance between Penny and Theo was a fun read.
