The Battle Begins: The Story of Creation by Caleb Seeling, Sergio Cariello (Illustrations)

20948805When I saw this one on Netgalley I was little iffy about requesting as I'm not the most religious person out there, anyway, I have to say I was really impressed with this book. The art was top notch and the minimal dialogue was descent.

This book is target to children or at least in my opinion it is targeted to children. It covers the story of creation; how God created the world and then went on to create Adam from the earth and Eve from one of Adam's ribs. It also covers how Lucifer (which by the way his drawing was incredible compared to the others) the most beautiful of angels was cast from heaven along with his supporters and how he tempts Adam and Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge.

It was a pretty descent, wholesome book for young children.

The Wicked + The Divine Volume 1 by Kieron Gillen and Jamie Mckelvie

23093359This was an interesting read; apparently every 90 years gods take possession of a mortal vessel. They can live in this world for two years and then die (well that's getting the short end of the stick) to begin the cycle all over again. While here they all become music sensations with a trope of followers all over.

The story follows Laura, a college student (who never shows up for class) as she follows these god music sensations all over her city. While at a concert she meets Lucifer, who also goes by Luci and she eventually sets out to prove Luci didn't kill a Judge. After that things just get crazy and that ending; you will definitely want to be checking into the next volume.

Oh and in case I completely forgot to mention this, the "gods" are from an array of myths and you obviously noticed the "Lucifer" thing; some of these "gods" have the names of fallen angels. You know, fallen angels, the ones cast from heaven into a fiery abyss. You'll definitely have some fun with this creative story.

All Bets Are On by Cynthia Cooke

Derek is a prince of hell and lately he's been a little bored with his work, punishing white-collar criminals has become a bit tedious. He's become such a drag at work that his minions set up an online dating profile for him, because in no uncertain terms, they believe he "needs to get laid", they know Derek won't go along with it so they bet him he can't get laid. Talk about a kicker to start off the story.

23127688Jaclyn runs a charity organization for children, she started it with her friend Trish; she doesn't like charity balls and she believes good looking guys are trouble with a capital T. On an online dating site she and her friend come across Derek's profile, Trish convinces Jaclyn to send Derek a message.

When these two meet it's not love at first sight, it's lust at first sight, but more importantly they start off with this I hate you, you hate me sort of thing.

The story is nice, will these two actually find their happily ever after or will the whole prince of hell be a big no no for Jaclyn.

The storyline is fun and the characters are entertaining, I would totally have given it a 5 if it weren't for one tiny detail at the end, but I will let you figure which detail out when you read the book.
