The Trouble with Temptation (The McKays #2) by Shiloh Walker

I had a love/hate relationship with this one.

It’s a good story, but you just had so much going on that at time you just got pulled away from the main characters of this story. 

The main characters in this story are Hannah Parker and Brannon McKay, but so much of the story was spent on other characters that sometime I felt they got left behind.

The whole murderer angle really does get you hooked, so I will definitely be coming back for book three.

Kiss Me Twice by Alexa Darin

We have suspense, drama and Elvis impersonators.

Bailey Ventura is engaged to Carter Davis then he gets amnesia [there’s a reason for this, a very good one] and all of a sudden he’s “moving” on and kissing other women. 

Okay I understand why Carter needed Bailey to think they were done but come on dude you need to get going if you want the happily ever after.

My only issue with this book was when Bailey is back in her hometown, won’t tell you what happens but it had me like ugh.

I feel like an Elvis quote should end this one but all I can think of is Elvis and his poofy hair.

Well who could it be.........

Well, I'm obviously not going to say who could it be, you have to read the book to find out. Daryl Anne is going back to her hometown of Weddingville (no wonder she left) for her best friend's wedding. As the maid of honor Daryl Anne is making sure Meg's wedding goes off without a hitch but just as things are going great, the bride's mother returns out of the blue, bringing a whole lot of drama and then getting herself murdered. Any best friend / maid of honor knows she has to help, even if it means teaming up with her sexy ex and wedding photographer Seth.

The story is great, it has drama, suspense and second chances. Seth and Daryl Anne were so cute as they went around trying to solve a murder and avoid a killer. You can really feel the chemistry between these two, which is what really made the story more enjoyable. I also loved the cover also, the black Alcatrazes was really pretty against the white back drop of the dress.

X-Files: Year Zero by Vic Malhotra

This was one hell of a good book; if you're a fan of the X-Files, you'll love this one. This book takes you back to the 1940's, to the very first case; the one that led to the creation of the X-Files.

Mulder and Scully are investigating a series of mysterious deaths, along the way they receive cryptic clues sent by a Mr. Zero; and that there has Mulder seeing the similarities and possible connection to the very first case.

The book was awesome, out of all the characters, my favorite was Miss Ohio, the very first employee, to receive the clues. Damn 1940's, sexist FBI that didn't allow women agents; either way, agent or no agent, she was awesome.

There is a lot of dialogue, so if you don't like to read, this probably won't be to your liking, but other than that, very good.

I Belong to You by Lisa Renee Jones

If you've followed the series through all the ups and downs and inside outs, we finally get a full length novel for Mark and Crystal. Although for the love of god, can we finally get closure with Rebecca, we know Mark loved her and although she is believed dead things still feel incomplete.

Mark and Crystal are finally making it work and I hope that no more drama reaches their relationship, because we waited forever for this.

I do still hope that by some twist of the writing gods Rebecca is still alive and maybe living happily ever after in some unknown place. I normally hate amnesia twist, but if in the next and hopefully final book we get finality for Rebecca I'll be good. In the meantime read Mark and Crystal's story, this was a long time coming and the ending of the book will have you screaming.

Think 50 Shades of Grey with a mystery thrown in there and that’s If I Were You.  

Sara McMillin is a teacher on summer break who gets a key to a storage unit she must clear out, and what she finds in that unit is a series of journals belonging to Rebecca. Sara begins to read them and is then enthralled in Rebecca's story; when the entries end, Sara decides she wants to know what happened to Rebecca. 

Sara embarks on a journey to retrace Rebecca's life and find her.  

This is book 1 of the series and this series will captivate you and make you run rampant with theories. I'm already waiting for books 4-5 of the series and all I can say is  hurry up with the release, that’s how captivating the series is.

One of Us by Tawni O'Dell

Despite his great success, he is still the tormented by insecurity, panic attacks, the horrific death of his sister and the mental breakdown of his mother years ago.

When Danny gets a call that Tommy, his grandfather and the only good person he ever had in his childhood is sick, he returns to his hometown. On his first day there he finds a body near the Lost Creek gallows, on his third day there, another body is found and the mystery comes way too close to home. Teaming up with Detective Rafe; they set out in pursuit of the killer and the truths about his own family and his past.

As you start reading, it becomes really obvious who the killer is, but the story is very engaging and captivating, that you just can't put it down. Because, even though you know who the killer is, you don't know the why and that is what gets you hooked. Anyone who enjoys a good mystery will like this book.

Alive at 5 by Linda Bond

Zack is a former ranger, investigating his rich uncle's death. He is in no way looking for romance and he sure as hell doesn't want some reporter tagging along messing up his investigation. 

Samantha (Sam) is a reporter in need of a big scoop. When her friend and mentor dies in a mysterious "accident", her reporter instincts tell her there is something more going on and she is going to find out. Dragging her camera man George along, she decides to twist Zack's arm into letting them follow him on his "adventure". 

Sparks fly left and right with Sam and Zack and so do a few very near death encounters. 

The story is fun and engaging, the suspense will keep you flipping the pages, just to get to the big revelation. Because, come on it’s a mystery, there is always a big revelation. The ending is the only thing I would have changed a bit, perhaps add an epilogue where Sam and Zack go off into a non-death laced vacation; maybe have them sitting on the beach of Cabo sipping margaritas.

Her Secret, His Surprise by Paula Altenburg

Career driven girl meets cute bartender, they hit it off and spend the night. A month or so later, girl is over the toilet tossing her cookies and uh oh, you guessed it, she's pregnant. Tries to find bartender and if you guessed he's no longer there, then you are correct. 

SKIP ABOUT 2 YEARS [this is where the story really picks up] 

Logan is a CSIS agent [which from what I gathered is like the Canadian NCIS] and former bartender [he was undercover].  

Cass is an engineer, with a cute little baby girl and whole lot to deal with at work. She works for a military contracted company and a lot of people don't like the idea of a woman as a division director [sexist much]. Well, when her car breaks down and her sweet elderly matchmaking neighbor tries to set her up with her grandson, who is coming to live with her, all Cass can think is freeloader. 

If you guessed that the bartending, freeloading grandson is Logan, well good for you.  

When Logan and Cass see each other again, the sparks are still there, but can they make it work, when one has to lie for a living and the other is too focused on success? 

The story was fun and endearing, although it did lose some points for me because the ending felt too blah. I felt the ending needed something extra to really bring closure to the story. It's a fun light read perfect for relaxing after a long stressful day.

The Bunker: Volume 1 by Joshua Hale Fialkov, Joe Infurnari (Illustrations)

Bad authors, very bad. Never have anything written in cursive and then make it super tiny; that right there was 1 star, I had to re-read those small types just to make sure I got what they said. 

"On their way to bury a time capsule, five friends - Grady, Heidi, Natasha, Daniel, and Billy - uncover a metal bunker buried deep in the woods. Inside, they discover letters addressed to each of them ... from their future selves! Told they will destroy the world in the very near future, the friends find themselves, over the next few days, growing further and further apart. Though they've been warned against making the wrong choices, how do they know what the right ones are? Can the future really be changed, or will an even darker fate engulf the world?" 

The story lost another star because instead of coming together to try and figure things out, the friends end up fighting each other. Which can you really blame them, Daniel is in a relationship with Natasha and then sleeps with Heidi, who is Natasha's best friend. There is no excuse for something like that. 

The story end in a major cliff hanger and when it comes to apocalyptic futures , I need sequels ASAP, this is way too trippy for them to leave me hanging. 

Now I'm wondering which one of them is dead in the future and if they time travelled to the past, why not simply tell their past selves what to do and not do. Again too trippy and way too many questions.

Swann Dive (A Boston unCommons Mystery, #1) by Arlene Kay

Great story, its entertaining and captivating and OMG does it keep you guessing who the killer is to the very end. 

Eja Kane has been best friends with Cecilia "Cece" Swann since they were in grade school. When Cece dies by falling off a building, the cops scream suicide, but Eja knows Cece; and Cece had a fear of heights and was too full of life to ever end it by jumping off a building. 

Now, Eja must team up with Cece's snooty brother [sparks will fly because hey, what's a mystery without a little romance] and the rest of his family to find out what really happened to Cece. 

There are so many twists and turns you won't know which way to look. 

I could have easily given this story a 5 but at the end of the book there is one line from Deming that absolutely knocked it down for me. I won't tell you what that line is because that'd be cheating, I'll let you guess the line when you finish reading. 

This is book 1 in the series and with the way the author captured me in this one I can't wait for what's to  come.

Tie Me Down by Tracy Wolff

It follows sort-of the same path as Full Exposure, except in this one the characters aren't as appealing.  

You have a cop investigating murders and then she starts a relationship with a complete stranger that may or may not be the killer and she doesn't even bat an eye. 

We have a documentary film maker who is investigating his sister's murder by the same unknown killer and as soon as he hooks up with the cop, it's like eh forget my sister. 

Plus, these two never really have a single real conversation so no, did not work for me.
