This series follows Detective Jim Corrigan aka The Spectre as his team of misfits as they investigate supernatural occurrences in Gotham.Of course being centered in Gotham we will occasionally see Batman make an appearance or two, but he isn't the hero in these stories.
The art follows a more gruff / noir style but it totally works to reflect the vibe of the story.
Some aspects of the story were a little far fetched because come on, if you have a giant monster and a supernatural being you think Batman and the JLA will not be interfering. That small aspect detracted from the story for me, but it was entertaining.
