Lazarus, Vol. 2: Lift (Lazarus #2) by Greg Rucka (Writer), Michael Lark (Artist)

The gods will bless us by deciding which of us they deem worthy. The present is crap, I mean future and all the power lies in the hands of a few rich families (surprise, surprise); when the Carlyles have their Lift, a glorified event in which they decide who has talents or skills they can use and then promote them from waste to serf. It sounds so wrong, but considering that being waste is a guarantee to end up dead in gruesome way, what the heck, a nice job and food can make being a serf good enough.

This book follows Forever "Eve" Carlyle attempting to stop a terrorist attack on the day of the Lift and a family that travels by foot all the way to Denver in the hopes of being selected in the Lift.

Overall, the story was, we get a little bit of a mystery going with a mysterious text to Eve, hope they expand a lot more in the next book and as for the family on its way to the Lift, wonder where they'll end up. The illustrations where good, had a great play on color and light that really brought feeling to the despair of this future.

Judge Dredd: Mega-City Two by Douglas Wolk, Ulises Farinas (Illustrations)

Judge Dredd is going from the action of Mega City One to the spotlight of Mega City Two and without a real punch packing gun, he is seriously getting irked.

Mega City Two is in what used to be Los Angeles and like a pre-apocalyptic LA this Mega City is more interested in films and looks.

My favorite scene definitely was, the man eating shrimp; mutated shrimp from the atomic wars, how cool is that, shrimp the size of Godzilla.

I could have really used a bit more killing in this book, Judges execute on the spot; also the Chief Judge of Mega City Two was so annoying I really wanted Dredd to Judge. If you're a Dredd fan, you'll still like this, especially how he always seemed to be like 5 seconds away from shooting someone.
