Impulsion by Jamie Magee

The first book in its series follows Wyatt Doran and Harley Tatum in a young romance that ends through misunderstandings, years later fate brings them back together and gives them a second chance to be together. All they have to do is let go of the past and they can have a happy ending

The story was good for its genre and I would have rated it higher, except I felt that I felt they let others basically come between them. Overall, still very enjoyable and I can't wait to see what else this series will deliver.

One Night with her Bachelor (Montana Born Bachelor Auction #6) by Kat Latham

25116964We finally  get Molly Dekker's story, from the beginning of the series we hear about the horrible accident Josh Dekker suffered and how his mother, Molly has been struggling with the bills and all.

Although each book can be read as a stand-alone, reading at least book one and six together is a must as in book one we learn all about Lily and everything she does to help Molly and her godson Josh.

When Josh suffers his accident he is rescued by Gabriel Morales, a friend of his deceased uncle and wounded soldier dealing with his own traumas.

After Josh bids on him at the auction, he decides to gift the date to his mother (aww, what a sweetheart) because according to him, she smiles a lot when she thinks about Gabriel.

Gabriel and Molly begin to get a lot closer and their feelings grow, however, Gabriel was badly wounded overseas and he has this fear that no one can love him with all his injuries, so in typical dumb guy mode he pushes Molly away. Molly of course, could care less about his injuries, she sees him, not his injuries. Eventually, Molly is able to knock some sense into Gabriel and together they move towards their happily ever after.

Molly and Josh were incredibly strong characters, despite everything that has happened to them, they hold strong and find a way to look for the bright side of things.

Gabriel was at times a bit too detached, but he's a wounded soldier suffering to adapt to the changes in his life. Overall, this book is a real page turner; the characters are realistic and very enjoyable

In Bed with the Bachelor (Montana Born Bachelor Auction #5) by Megan Crane

25116952The story followed Jesse Grey and Michaela Townsend two people who get roped into the Bachelor Auction by their nosy relatives.

Jesse Grey somehow gets volunteered by his uncle Jason Grey, the surly owner of Grey's Saloon. Jesse totally does not want to be there and even worse he is pissed off at the attraction he feels to the girl that ends up receiving him as a gift.

Michaela Townsend is there as part of an impromptu bachelorette party, her relatives decide to bid on a guy as a gift.

Michaela and Jesse end up stranded in a motel after a blizzard and soon their attraction and their issues come out, threatening what seems like a perfect connection.

I was not a huge fan on this one. The reason's being that Jesse was super hung up on his ex-girlfriend and what she did to him, which granted what a skank. Still, after three years move on; just because she was a skank doesn't mean every woman will be like that.

Next, I swear every time Michaela opened her mouth I wish I could punch her character in the face. Her "fiance" was such a sleaze and her whole rationalizing it. Her way of rationalizing her open relationship, in which only her "fiance", who didn't even give her a ring because it's an archaic form of ownership, gets to use the perks. Like WTF!!! Then, that she actually listens to him tell her about his liaisons, that mean absolutely nothing because they are just something animals do.

The characters did seem to have this connection, but they also spent too much time in their heads and analyzing everything.

I did love that they finally deal with their issues and baggage to come together is a very romantic way.

What a Bachelor Needs (Montana Born Bachelor Auction #4) by Kelly Hunter

25077436Single mom Mardie Griffin has had it tough, she works like crazy and barely makes ends meets; she has no time for romance. Of course like that will deter her meddling best friend Ella Grace (if you love the Marietta Series you remember her from What a Bride Wants) from bidding on a man who is offering one week of handyman services.

Jett Casey remembers Mardie from a few years ago when he wished he could have helped her, now he gets a chance to help her despite her objections thanks to her meddling friend.

Mardie gradually opens up to Jett and they form a relationship. Jett knows Mardie has been seriously hurt in the past so he is willing to take things as slow as she wants to take them. I absolutely loved how Jett so easily fell Mardie and her little daughter Claire.

The characters were great and despite his very easygoing and laidback attitude, Jett is like the sweetest guy. Despite all her previous traumas, Mardie is still making a go at her life and giving her daughter everything she needs. The easy way the characters were with each other really made their story believable.

The Bachelor's Baby (Montana Born Bachelor Auction #3) by Dani Collins

24809005Meg Canon is back in Marietta to clean out her old room now that her brother's wife and step-daughter are moving into her childhood home. After accidentally ending up stuck in a ditch and getting rescued and propositioned by the very good looking new neighbor Linc Brady, she is grateful and irritated.

In a weird form of flirting she actually sets him up so that Lily ends up recruiting him for the bachelor auction. As the reader you are laughing at how Linc gets roped into this, especially when Linc flips.

At the auction Meg feels bad to have set Linc up, so she decides to bid on him; however, Linc decides to bid on himself and soon these two are letting the sparks fly in a very hilarious fashion.

What they decide will only be for one night turns into a (it's a four letter word in the title) and Linc has to decide if he is ready to commit.

The story was sweet and fun, the characters were enjoyable, especially their bickering, it was cute. It was endearing that despite being thrown into a relationship by circumstances, they get to know each other and they get a happy ending.

Bachelor at Her Bidding (Montana Born Bachelor Auction #2) by Kate Hardy

24808942Professional Chef Ryan Henderson only has time for one person, his grandmother; so when Lily (from book 1) persuades him to be a bachelor at the auction he is very hesitant. He agrees under the condition that if he has to cut the date short because his grandma needs him he can.

Dr. Rachel Cassidy is back in town after her divorce (her husband was such a jerk), she is still healing (very slowly); but what are friends for if not to annoy you and get you a birthday dinner with a super hot chef.

Ryan and Rachel gradually come together and get to know each other. Ryan was such a great character, he is like the perfect guy. He's good looking, can cook (super bonus there) and is super attentive to his ailing grandma (aww). Rachel is smart and kind and like any girl she has her insecurities, but she was such a real character.

The story is sweet and nice; the characters are very enjoyable and their chemistry really shows.

Bound to the Bachelor (Montana Born Bachelor Auction #1) by Sarah Mayberry

24808910When her godson Josh suffers a horrific injury and her best friend Molly finds herself in financial need, Lily Taylor decides she needs to do something. Short on cash, but big on ideas she organizes a Bachelor Auction and recruits every single hot guy, wells some get volunteered.

Beau Bennett always has this animosity towards his sister's best friend Lily. It's not so much that he dislikes her, it's that he likes her, but he doesn't want a relationship, so the best thing to do is to avoid her.

Lily knows Beau won't be thrilled to do the auction, but she twists his arm and recruits him anyway. When a blast from the past makes its presence in Lily's present and she inherits $10,000 of what she considers dirty money, she ends up debating how to rid herself of the money and ends up bidding on Beau.

Beau is shocked that Lily bid that much on him, but as they get to know each other a little better Beau realizes he wants a forever with Lily.

The story was sweet and Lily was an incredible character; she's strong, determined and can take care of herself. Her story was so sad and yet she still turns out a great person.

As for Beau, he was your typical guy, but still a descent guy. The back and forth between him and Lily made for a fun and enjoyable read.

Ares' Temptation by Aubrie Dionne

25047692The worst thing that can happen to you if you are a god is lose your powers when you piss off a witch. Well that's exactly what happens to Ares, the God of War.

When Ares kills Hecate's brother, she vows revenge, so like any good witch, she curses him. The next person Ares touches will gain all his powers and he will obtain all their weaknesses. The only way to break the curse is by getting the other person to fall in love with him.

Enter, Kaye Underhill somewhat clumsy and no where near physically fit, she's skinny and all, but she's not the type to go running.

Ares is at Pan's wedding when he meets Kaye a mortal, with a little help, I mean interference from Hecate, Kaye accidentally acquires Ares's powers. From there the story really begins and so does the love of these two quirky characters.

Ares, who adopts the name Armin Warhammer as his human name sets off to win Kaye's heart.

The story was great, Ares is so funny, his lack of human knowledge is hilarious and Kaye, if I had a brother like her's, I would have put him in a box and returned to sender forever ago.

It was also great to see the characters gradually come together and see big macho man Ares/Armin fall in love.

Star Trek: The City on the Edge of Forever by Harlan Ellison, ScottTipton, David Tipton, J.K. Woodward

23241668What can I say, except AMAZING!!! The art was incredible, the detail was so exact you almost felt like you were looking at photographs.

Captain Kirk and the ever wise Mr. Spock must travel back in time to unknot the time stream and restore their timeline.

Loved the guardians, the mystic way in which they spoke got you thinking about the mosh fascinating topics of science fiction, time travel. This book story actually does the whole butterfly effect thing, where one individual can actually have a cataclysmic effect on the future.

It's a good story, definitely worth reading.

Tall, Dark, and Bad by Charlotte Hughes

24736619I loved this story, it was so hilarious; Summer Pettigrew is a self-reliant, do it herself overachiever, who never has any time for relationships. When a little white-lie leads to her having to produce a boyfriend out of thin air, Cooper Garrett is not what she expected.

Cooper does his cousin a favor, he just never expected to be attracted to his pretend girlfriend.

Soon Cooper and Summer's pretend relationship escalates and the little white-lie grows to a big monster of a lie.

Summer was a bit shallow sometimes, but usually very good and an over controlling perfectionist, but when you read her background story, her behavior totally makes sense.

Cooper had a rough life growing up so he often carries a chip on his shoulder; he is a really hardworking good guy.

The story is sweet, especially when these two finally acknowledge they are in love. The story was originally published in 1996 and was re-released with a few updates. This is the perfect book for a relaxing, kickback afternoon or weekend.

Love in a Snow Storm (Pine Harbour #2) by Zoe York

23289699This was an enjoyable read, once you stopped hating the lead male character. The story follows Jake Foster and Dani Minelli; they've known each other forever, as Jake is best friends with Dani's older brothers.

We get some background and we learn that Jake has had feelings for Dani since she was like 17, being almost six years older than her, he does nothing. By the time the story starts, we find out that Dani is now like 25 and Jake is like 31; however, despite having feelings for Dani, he doesn't act on them and instead just has meaningless flings.

Dani has feelings for Jake, but she hasn't spent her years pinning away for him, she goes out and tries to find someone special. After realizing that he might finally lose her, Jake finally gets his head out of his ass and makes a move towards a relationship. There is just a few people he has to deal with, mainly her brothers and a potential pregnancy scare (unnecessary drama right there).

The story and the characters were enjoyable, however, I knocked down one star for that whole ex-lover thing and the pregnancy scare. That was unnecessary and was just thrown in there to try and create some sort of drama/problems for the couple and it was eventually just steamrolled over.

Dark Engine Volume 1: The Art of Destruction by Ryan Burton, John Bivens (Illustrations)

23093373I was really not feeling this one, the art was good, but the storyline was meh.

It just didn't really feel like there was much of a story and you don't really see enough of any character to think "oh, good luck with you mission".

I took me forever to read the book because I just could not get behind it. The only reason I gave it two stars was because of the art, that is some really good time-travel art, plus any annoying character that appears gets killed by Sym. Sym is the looks like a woman but who know what she/it really is other than a lean mean killing weapon.

The Millionaire (Hot Aussie Heroes, #4) by Victoria Purman

24286514In book four and quite possibly my favorite of the "Hot Aussie Heroes" series, we follow famous photographer Chris Malone and journalist Ellie Flannery.

On a walk down the beach, who should Ellie see but her hero Chris Malone coming out of the water. Chris is on a break, he wants no one to recognize him, he just want to relax. Chris needs a break from photographic despair in war torn areas, so when Ellie recognizes him, he flees.

When a photo goes viral where Chris refuses to cooperate on a fund raiser for the Royal Flying Doctors; things become interesting and the two come together and get to know each other.

Both Ellie and Chris were very sweet characters and very realistic. The way the characters come together and deal with their demons is also very engaging for the reader.

The Playboy (Hot Aussie Heroes, #3) by Madeline Ash

24356111Parker Hargraves was once an ultra-mega, grade-A jerk to Alexia Burton when they were teenagers. Years later Parker has grown and matured, and by a chance encounter he runs into Alexia who is vacationing in her native Australia.

Alexia is in a bit of bind and when Parker finds out he decides to help her out. While Parker is helping Alexia and organizing a fundraiser for the Royal Flying Doctors, he is also falling for her. Alexia doesn't want to fall for Parker, not when she saw what love did to her mother and how it cost her, her dream.

Eventually, these two are able to find themselves back to each other and Alexia learns that with a loving and supporting partner, no one has to make any sacrifices.

The story was sweet and entertaining, at times Alexia is a bit annoying in how she won't give Parker a real chance because of her fears. Parker was so great, he was a jerk in high school, but after a family tragedy and an eye-opening message by his parents. Overall, the story was great and very enjoyable. Although, it's the third book in the "Hot Aussie Heroes" series, like the last two, it is a stand alone novel.

The Hero (Hot Aussie Heroes, #2) by Amy Andrews

24405763The second book in the "Hot Aussie Heroes" series was good, but not one of my favorite and it has nothing to do with the characters chemistry.

Edwina Calloway and Justin Wilde two very good looking TV actors who used to work together and were very attracted to each other; just one problem, Edwina Calloway was married and these two respected that very much (bonus points for that).

Well, it's a couple of years later and Edwina finally divorced her ass of a husband and agent. That right there is why the book lost points with me, her ex-husband was an ass and is still an ass through the book and Edwina doesn't put and end to him and break off all ties until almost the end of the book.

Justin in the book was described as like an OMG good looking movie start (in my mind he looks like Chris Evans) and despite being a super successful star, he really comes across as a really great and down to earth guy.

Overall, the book was great and the characters have incredible chemistry. As you read, you literally think "why did it take them so long to come together?" but any good story builds up your expectation and this one really delivered. Storywise it's a 4 star, but my issue with Edwina is what knocked down to a 3.

The Cowboy (Hot Aussie Heroes, #1) by Margareta Osborn

TheCowboy-300dpiCarina Chapman was on her way to a relaxing resort in the land down under, there's just one problem, her assistant booked her to the wrong resort.

Jake Richardson is trying to save is family ranch, so when it's proposed he turns it into a resort he does just that. There's just one problem, okay maybe a lot of problems; he has no idea how to run a resort and everything that could malfunction is malfunctioning, just before his very first client arrives, not to mention things need to be ready for the charity event for the Royal Flying Doctors.

Things are nowhere near what Carina expected upon arriving at Jake's "resort"; but what really endeared Carina as a character was that despite many of her reservations, she went with the flow and even tried to help Jake out.

Jake was an interesting character, you could feel his stress with trying to save the ranch, as well as trying not to be attracted to his first client.

The "Hot Aussie Heroes" series is a set of four book each telling a different story, but all focus around one major point, the Royal Flying Doctors. Some characters will make appearances in the other books.

Overall, you see both characters come together gradually as they get to know each other. If you're looking for some love quarrel drama, this book has none; it's a nice, short, feel good and relax kind of story.

Crushed (Redemption #2) by Lauren Layne

23166994In book one we get some backstory on Michael St. Claire, well in book two he is the leading man. After his entire life falls apart Michael is just living through the motions. While working at a country club he meets Chloe Bellamy a slightly overweight girl who is often being compared to her perfect older sister (aesthetically, because she is dumber than a goldfish and more shallow than a spot of melted ice).

Chloe has an unrequited love and Michael decides to help her out, because he remembers his own unrequited love. The two go from frienemies to friends and eventually they find love. Michael helps Chloe become more sure of herself and become a healthier person (I loved his, workout for yourself and don't look at scales because they are mean).

When I was reading the story Chloe makes a reference to The Ugly Duckling and she compares her transformation to that story. She was so right, as you read, you see her grow and move out of the shadow of her older sister.

Michael also does his own growing and accepting; however, after he screws things up with Chloe I wanted him to win her back on his own. Don't get me wrong it was great to see all the original friends make up and find their ways back to each other, but their help was really not need.

I loved characters and the story was great, I will definitely be checking out more of Ms. Layne's books.

Broken (Redemption #1) by Lauren Layne

21408690Olivia Middleton flees her cushy New York lifestyle after her life implodes after she makes what she believes to be the greatest mistake of her life. She winds up going to play nursemaid for a war-hero she believes to be some old guy.

Paul Langdon is a recluse; after suffering severe injuries overseas, he wants nothing more than to hide from the world he believes won't accept him. When his father tells him he has to stop running off his all the people he sends to care for him or he will cut him off.

When Paul sees Olivia he can't believe his father sent him someone in his own age group and worse, the type of person he would have hung out with in his pre-deployment era.

The story was great, it was like a Beauty and the Beast; as Olivia and Paul get to know each other they help each other overcome their traumas and become better people. Both characters were very realistic. Their struggles really show the characters and it makes them very relatable. The book also showed the struggles that many people returning from military duty face. The book was great and I can't wait to read about the other characters.

At His Service: Part 4 by Suzanne Rock

23209490In the final installment things finally work themselves out and Leo and Karin are able to find a way to stay together and defeat their obstacles.

At the beginning things are a bit rocky, but with a little drinking and whole lot of venting, the solutions appear and they are able to reach each other.

In this book we also see more of Leo's little sister and we learn more of that wedding that's been all Leo can think of.

In the end Leo and Karin get their happily-ever-after and we get the premise for a new book that has us saying "OMFG! That did not just happen." Lovers of drama and will have a field day with this ending.

This was the first series I read my Ms. Rock and I can say I will be adding her to my list of favorite authors.

At His Service: Part 3 by Suzanne Rock

23209489In part three Leo and Karin's story continues and thing finally heat up. We get introduced to Karin's ex and Leo's business rival, Jason Stone (remember that name, because I have a feeling it will be important).

Just as Leo and Karin's relationship is developing a decent foundation; Leo's business problems reach a boiling point that will topple their budding romance.

Like in the past books, Wes is by far my most favorite minor character; he is always ready to back up Karin.

Like the previous two book it end in a cliffhanger that has you running to the next and final installment; this book will have you screaming a bit more than the last two, only because, just as things are getting good for Leo and Karin circumstances have to intervene. Still, you gotta love it, drama makes for a good and enjoyable read.

No More Talking (Hearts Are Wild #1) by Rhian Cahill

23007911I have a real love-hate relationship with these kinds of storylines; the guy falls in love with his best friend's sister, but doesn't want to pursue a relationship because of his friendship.

Frederica "Freddie" Mann has had a thing for her brother's best-friend Zachary "Zac" Moreland, only problem is that like all books following this type of story, he plays hot and cold.

Zac has had a thing for Freddie for a while and on one particular day a little something happens; since then he has taken to avoiding Freddie and referring to her as "Red".

The story begins at Freddie's brother's wedding and from there, after a little giving in the story kicks off. I won't tell you more because then I'd be giving the story away and it wasn't that long.

The characters were okay, Zac I hated / liked; he has his moments, but overall the reason I hated him was that one day he was very I'm into you and the next he's all this is wrong, I need to pull back. Like seriously, get your head out of your ass and either make a move or step back. As for Freddie, really, don't make it so easy for him. Teach him a lesson or two.

Overall, the story was amusing; Ms. Cahill has an entertaining writing style. I hope the next book is a bit longer so that maybe we can connect with the characters better.
